Paid political letter: Protecting Women’s Rights

Published by The Gerald Forks Herald | August 31, 2024

Donald Trump, who claims credit for overturning Roe v Wade, would have us believe he has moderated his stand against a woman’s right to choose and other reproductive freedoms. Do not believe him. Trump’s choice of J.D. Vance to be his vice-president reveals his true opinion and policy. Vance not only opposes the right to choose, but also wants no exceptions for rape or incest. He advocates women remain in abusive relationships.

With only three electoral votes, North Dakota does not have much influence over who becomes President of the U.S. We do, however, get to determine who will represent us in Congress. We must have advocates who will defend women’s reproductive rights regardless who is President.

Katrina Christiansen in the Senate and Trygve Hammer in the House will be strong advocates committed to securing and maintaining the right to contraception, abortion, fertility treatment, reproductive health and information about one’s reproductive body. These are life and death issues. We need Katrina and Trygve in Congress and they need our support!
