(JAMESTOWN) – US Senate candidate Katrina Christiansen, says she agrees with the North Dakota District Court’s ruling overturning the state’s abortion ban.
“I believe having an abortion is a personal decision that should be between a patient, their family and their doctor,” Christiansen said. “This law denied access to vital treatments and threatened criminal liability to exempted emergency care providers at the whim of after-the-fact prosecutors.”
Christiansen said the state’s decision does not mean reproductive rights are federally protected, saying she supports federal legislation ‘guaranteeing women access to the healthcare they need and deserve.’
Christiansen will face incumbent U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer in the November general election.
