100 days until the November election; what to expect from the North Dakota candidates

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - The November election is 100 days away. Candidates running for Governor, U.S. House and U.S. Senate have been relatively quiet since the primary in June. What can we expect from them going forward?

Political analyst Rick Clayburgh said as we get to the end of August and into Labor Day weekend, we are going to see more activity ramp up. He said we will see media purchases of radio and television advertisements. Clayburgh said we have seen a little bit of it this month with one of the candidates. He said it may be a little early right now as few people are paying attention to the campaigns.

“The presidential election is going to overshadow a lot of that here in North Dakota. It’s probably going to be a little quieter because again, it is a red state. President Trump certainly enjoys a more significant lead in states like North Dakota,” said Clayburgh.

Clayburgh said the summer months are a time for the candidates to catch their breath. He added that this is an opportunity for them to get out, meet the voters and raise money.
